MISSION STATEMENT (Purpose)
۩ To provide a forum of true Christian education, premised upon our foundation, the Word of God.
۩ To honor the Lord Jesus Christ in obedience to the leading and directing of the Holy Spirit.
We recognize that wisdom originates with God, and is not necessarily synonymous with knowledge. God’s wisdom, based on the original Hebrew language of the Old Testament, is discernment coupled with understanding, which culminates in intelligence, as read in Proverbs 9:10. Proverbs 9:9 clarifies 9:10 by stating: “Give instruction to a wise man and he will yet be wiser. Teach a just man and he will increase in learning.”
Learning is a life-long process, which is supported and strengthened by study (2 Timothy 2:15). Accordingly, we provide a forum for our students to obtain a quality education in Biblical wisdom.
In the admonition given by St. Paul to his student, Timothy, there is an urgency to continue in that which he had learned (2 Timothy 3:14). This is the heart of the LBCS curriculum.
OUR PRESIDENT
Dr. Robert J. Long, S.LITT.D.
Executive Director/Co-Founder
Dr. Long was born in Kentucky and lived there until he entered the U.S. Army in 1953. After leaving the Army in 1956, he lived a rough life for the next few years. Eventually, he was saved, baptized, and in 1979 felt God’s call on his life to preach. He answered that call and after Bible school he began to preach in 1985.
Dr. Long founded the radio broadcast “Salvation Unlimited” in 1985. He preached every Sunday on the radio until 2001. At the same time, he was an evangelist--preaching in churches, tents, and rented halls. While he was doing evangelistic work, he pastored a church, which services were broadcast over the radio. He saw many souls saved and decisions made for Christ.
In 1999, Dr. Long was burdened to start a movement of independent preachers and churches that loved the Lord more than the man-made rules he found in many churches. So he founded Independent Baptist Alliance, Inc... God blessed his efforts, and today IBA has ministries and churches throughout America.
Dr. Long received his Bible diploma from Liberty Home Bible Institute, and degrees from Andersonville Baptist Seminary and Jacksonville Theological Seminary.
Brother Long feels strongly that God has called him to start this school. God has blessed us greatly with the instructors He has given to us. Each one is a gifted teacher, and all of them love God.
Our prayer at LBCS is that the students will enjoy their studies and use the knowledge they learn here to win lost souls for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT
Dr. Long was saved at the age of forty. After Bible school he started preaching on the radio and other venues. For the next twenty years, he served as an evangelist, pastor, and radio preacher, and saw many souls saved.
He is delighted to have you consider LBCS as your place of study. There are many fine Christian institutions from which you could achieve your goals; however, we dare not boast that our ministry of education is better than all the others. But we do believe we are on par with them, and we can assure you if you choose our school, you will be the recipient of a Christ-centered, Bible oriented program of studies.
What is distinct about LBCS? Our format and curriculum is distance learning. You are not required to leave your home or job and spend time at a traditional college or seminary campus. Further, there is no need for you to spend your life savings to be granted a degree.
Ours is a place where if you do not wish to work toward a degree, you may enroll in our Diploma of Biblical Studies program. The Diploma and degree programs are now available for you as you set up your own pursuit of studies, to be completed at your own pace and place. We have a no interest time payment plan, including incentives.
Liberty is not concerned with awarding or getting a particular degree. We recognize that many ministries are seeking the believer who has attained a certain level of Christian education exemplified in the receiving of a degree. Consequently, we seek to provide a learning experience which leads to spiritual growth and at the same time honors God.
